Care and Maintenance

 

Please follow the cleaning, maintenance procedures provided below to maintain the quality of Okamura furniture. With regular care and maintenance, you can enjoy a long life of Okamura furniture with comfort.

 

Instruction to use and maintain

  • The key to long life is to retighten bolts and screws when they have worked loose. Make sure to retighten them early
  • Do not use the chair in areas where there is excessive steam or moisture. Exposure to moisture can cause metal parts to rust
  • If the chair gets wet, dry it with a soft cloth
  • If tea, coffee, detergent or chemicals are spilled on the chair, clean the area immediately to prevent permanent stains
  • Keep this manual handy for future reference
  • Your regular maintenance procedures will greatly extend the lifespan and quality of the chair
  • Do not attempt to disassemble the chair

  • Handling of the gas lift must only be carried out by technical personnel
  • Choose the right casters for the floor surface on which the chair will be used. Use hard casters on carpeting and soft casters on hard floors

Regular Care
  • Regular maintenance is tip for long-life use
  • If found unstable due to loose bolts and screws, tighten them
  • Wipe the chair with a soft, dry cloth
  • Keep the chair free from dust and dirt

 

Procedures for cleaning a heavily soiled chair

Fabrics and Mesh

  • For stained part, use neutral detergent (1-3%) and completely remove detergent with dry soft cloth
  • For mesh and cushion parts, remove dust by tapping the cloth surface with brush or by using vacuum cleaner
  • Cushion part cannot be dry-cleaned therefore if it is exceptionally dirty, we would recommend to replace it
  • Before using a commercially available cleaner to clean the whole chair, do a small test on an area of the chair that will not be easily noticed to check for any discoloration
  • Avoid using shoe cream, thinner and benzine as they will cause damage

 

Leather

  • Wipe with a soft, dry cloth
  • Avoid using shoe cream, thinner and benzine as they will cause damage

 

Vinyl Leather

  • Use clean damp water or warm water on a cloth and wipe off the dirt, dry it immediately with dry cloth and let it dry for a while
  • If the stain hardens, use neutral detergent (1-3%) and completely remove detergent with dry soft cloth
  • Avoid using shoe cream, thinner and benzine as they will cause damage

 

Aluminum Parts

  • Wipe with a soft, dry cloth
  • For water mark or finger mark, immediately wipe off with dry cloth as leaving those marks will oxidize aluminum and the shine and finish will fade 

 

Plastic Parts

  • Wipe with a soft, dry cloth
  • If the stain hardens, use neutral detergent (1-3%) and completely remove detergent with dry soft cloth
